Remarks: In 1886, a John Fisher operated a sash and door factory. By 1897, John Hicks purchased the factory, and it became known as Hicks & Sancton Manufacturing Co. When Sancton retired, the Hicks sons took over where he left off. The brothers (Herbert, Edward & Henry) soon erected a large furniture store. 1902: Edwards & Henry bought out Herbert's interest. Fire destroyed the factory. 1907: Furniture store burns also. The factory and store were rebuilt. Firm soon concentrates on contract work.
